Elica and Faber Chimney Overview:

Elica and Faber are both Italian companies that are well-known in India for their chimney. Both brands manufacture a variety of chimneys in different types and shapes ranging price from around INR 10k to 60k.

Here are some common types of wall-mounted chimneys that these brands offer in India:

Curved Glass Chimney: This type of chimney is popular in Indian kitchens, because of its elegant design at an affordable price point. Faber and Elica both have hundreds of models in filterless and baffle-filter types for curved glass chimneys.

Pyramid chimney: This is an older type of chimney with a pyramid shape. Unlike the Inclined chimney, this type of chimney mostly comes in a baffle-filter type. Elica and Faber both brands offer a pyramid chimney under INR 10000.

Inclined chimney/Angular chimney: This modern type of chimney only comes in the filterless type and is offered by both brands in India. This type of chimney generally has a higher price compared to a curved glass chimney.

Now it’s up to your preference to choose a chimney based on price and type. (I’ll provide more guidance on this later.)

If you’re familiar with basic chimney guides, you’ll know that chimneys also come in different mounts such as island chimneys and straight-line chimneys. However, Elica and Faber don’t have lots of variety in those types.

There is no need to tell you why to buy a chimney but remember when buying a chimney, you have a lot of factors and features to consider such as suction power, noise level, and more. Let’s discuss which brand chimney, Elica or Faber, is best in these factors and quality features.

Baffle Filter and Filterless:

Baffle Filters and Filterless chimneys are both types of chimneys widely used in Indian kitchens. However, filterless chimneys are the new trend in the market since they do not require the period cleaning that is required for baffle-filter chimneys.

Nevertheless, when it comes to the efficiency of the chimney, the baffle filter is great since it traps all the oil and grease.

Elica and Faber both manufacture chimneys in filterless and baffle-filter types, but Faber has more variety in baffle filters compared to Elica chimneys. So, if you require a baffle-filter chimney, search for a Faber chimney. Please note that baffle-filter chimneys can be a little noisy as well.

Suction Power:

The power of a chimney to remove smoke and gases is known as its suction capacity or suction power. It generally ranges from 1000 m3/hr to 1500 m3/hr.

On average, a 1200m3/hr suction power chimney is ideal for an Indian kitchen that often does the frying and produces significant smoke while cooking. If your dinner involves a lot of frying and masalas, you may require a higher suction power chimney.

Faber most chimney comes in 1200m3/hr suction power and for a few chimneys, you can get a 1500m3/hr. Meanwhile, Elica chimneys typically have suction power options ranging from 1200m3/hr, 1350m3/hr, and 1425m3/hr, giving you a better range to choose from.

Now, if your question is about which brand effectively removes smoke, I would say both. However, if you require high suction power, I’d suggest going with Elica 1425 m3/hr. This brings me to the next point.

  • Faber =1

Noise level:

A chimney can be noisy, even with high suction power. It’s advisable to choose a chimney with a noise level of 58dB-59dB. On average, both brands’ chimneys don’t produce annoying noise.

However, when comparing higher suction power, I observed that Faber has a slightly higher noise level compared to Elica. That’s why I recommend going with an Elica chimney for higher suction. Both brands also offer silent chimneys, but they may not be as effective.

  • Elica=1.1
  • Faber=1

Auto-clean technology:

In a chimney, auto-clean technology includes a heating element that melts collected oil particles and drips them into a detachable collecting tray that needs to be cleaned later.

Most Faber and Elica chimneys have this auto-cleaning feature that works well. However, a few Faber chimneys also come with i-Clean technology (Auto-clean alarm) that can notify you when it’s time to clean the chimney, which is a great feature.

  • Faber=1.1

Touch and Gesture Control:

Traditional chimneys also come with touch and gesture control features. Many people overlook this gesture control feature, but it’s a very helpful feature, especially when your hands are messy with the cooking. With just a wave of your hand, you can move and control the chimney.

Both Elica and Faber work great with the gesture control feature. Their chimneys move smoothly, and I haven’t found any complaints with either brand.

  • Faber=1

Warranty period:

When you buy a chimney, it comes with a fixed warranty period. In general, most chimneys come with a 1-year comprehensive warranty on the product and a 5-year warranty on the motor. Faber offers this warranty period for most of its chimneys, and for a specific chimney, it may offer up to 12 years for the motor of the chimney.

I found a similar warranty period with Elica chimneys, but for a specific chimney, its warranty period could be more than Faber chimneys, i.e., up to 15 years for the motor of the chimney.

  • Faber=1

Energy Consumption:

This point will again be in favor of Elica Chimneys. Needless to say, when you use an electric chimney, it consumes significant energy. Filterless chimneys often consume less energy compared to a baffle-filter chimney however it also depends on the speed of the motor used in the chimney.

After examining Faber and Elica chimneys, I found that Faber chimneys with the same suction power have comparatively higher annual energy consumption compared to Elica chimneys.

Duct Vs Ductless suitability:

Duct Vs Ductless chimney: this visual reference how they works and differentiates to each other.

A chimney that installs without duct pipe is known as a ductless chimney while one that requires duct pipe is known as a duct chimney. Ductless chimneys are best if you want hassle-free installation and flexibility of the chimney in your kitchen.

A ductless chimney requires a carbon/charcoal filter to recirculate the filtered air inside your kitchen. Now if you don’t have much guidance on duct and ductless chimneys, I highly recommend reading my article on duct Vs ductless chimneys.

If you want a duct chimney to be installed, you may consider either Elica or Faber chimneys but if your requirement is a ductless chimney, you better go with Faber chimneys.

Faber gives you more options and better chimneys for making it ductless by adding the carbon or charcoal filter inside it.

  • Faber=1.1

From my evaluation, Elica has received a total of 8.4 points and Faber has received 8.3 points for their quality features. Now, let’s discuss the performance of the chimneys.

Whose chimney has better performance?

Performance and effectiveness are among the main factors to consider when looking at chimney brands. If you’re wondering which brand, Faber or Elica, offers better performance and durability, I would say both.

However, the performance of a chimney depends on each individual chimney rather than the brand. Both brands manufacture hundreds of chimneys, and comparing the performance of all chimneys based on just two that I’ve installed may not be appropriate.

It’s possible that some Elica chimneys might not perform well while others have great overall performance. The same applies to Faber chimneys. Don’t worry, later I’ll provide my recommended Elica and Faber chimneys that I’ve shortlisted after doing a lot of research and asking others about their experiences with the products.

Elica Vs Faber chimney: Customer help and support

When buying a chimney from any brand you must check their customer support. The better a brand offer customer support, the better the brand could be.

Faber and Elica, both provide customer help and support in a few ways. To contact Faber you may call 18002093484 and to contact Elica dial 1800 233 0007. You may also reach out to Elica at customercare@elica.in and Faber at ks-customercare.in@franke.com for Installation and ks-faberkart.in@franke.com for general queries and other services.

These contact options work well to connect with these brands.

In Faber, you also get a chatbot to get connect with Faber easily. Just visit faberindia.com, at the bottom you’ll see a chatbot where you have to answer a couple of questions and then any Faber team will contact you shortly.

However, while assisting with their contact and customer support I noticed that Faber’s chimney often makes a delay in their service compared to Elica chimneys. Let me share my installation experience…

So I purchased both chimneys online from Amazon, and when you purchase a chimney online, the brands may have to contact you for installation service in 36-48 hrs. In Faber Chimney, I waited for a few days but didn’t receive any call from the brand side whereas Elica reached out to me for installation service.

In my opinion, with Elica Chimney you get quick help, guidance, and support than Faber Chimney. However, both companies lack support in rural areas or when you need maintenance for the chimney.

  • Faber=1

Elica Vs Faber Chimney: Price and Value for Money?

Now, the final question remains who offers chimneys at affordable prices and where do you get the best value for money?

Well, I have already mentioned in the beginning that Elica and Faber both have similar prices for all types of chimneys. In both brands, you may get a pyramid chimney under INR 10000, a curved glass chimney between INR 12000 to INR 16000, and an Inclined chimney from INR 20000 to over INR 30000.

Now you can make a better decision about which type of chimney to consider based on your budget and preferred look.

However, I have noticed that Faber chimney prices keep changing on Amazon. Sometimes you may find a great deal on a chimney, while at other times, the price may seem higher for the same chimney.

When it comes to value for money, I guess both chimneys win the match. Since you get the best chimneys in both brands at an affordable price. For the middle class, I’d recommend a curved glass chimney. However, If you want a modern chimney with the all latest feature, you may consider an Inclined chimney.

If you don’t have enough budget, you may try a pyramid chimney but I’d not recommend it much because of its less suction power and the annoying noise it makes.

  • Elica=1
  • Faber=1

Conclusion:

Based on the points I’ve mentioned above and my experience with both brands, Elica has a slight lead with 0.1 points, however, it’s not a big number. Overall, it is hard to say in Elica Vs Faber chimney, Elica or Faber Chimney is the winner.

While both brands offer better performance and affordable prices, there are some factors where Elica performs better, such as energy consumption and warranty period. On the other hand, Faber is more appropriate for some different factors, such as I-clean technology and ductless mode.

Therefore, you can choose a chimney brand based on the factors that are most important to you and purchase the best chimney from that brand. To make it easier for you, I’ll provide my top recommendations for Elica and Faber chimneys below.

Please note that I haven’t selected these chimneys randomly. I’ve spent several days researching, reading reviews, and asking many users about their experiences with the chimneys they bought. In short, I’m recommending these chimneys for their best-quality features and results.

You can also conduct your own research on these chimneys, but I’ll only provide the top specifications about them here.
